Unfinished Basement Inspection

Unfinished Basement Inspection

An unfinished basement is inspected as a structural and building systems area where foundation components and utilities are typically visible.

What We Inspect

• Foundation walls, floor slabs, and visible structural components
• Evidence of water intrusion, staining, efflorescence, or moisture conditions
• Visible framing, support columns, and beams
• Plumbing supply and drain piping where accessible
• Electrical panels, wiring, and safety concerns where visible
• Heating equipment and distribution components located in the basement
• Sump pumps and drainage systems when present

Entry is made when safely accessible and conditions permit.

Important Limitations

Unfinished basement inspections do not include:

• Moving heavy storage or personal belongings
• Testing for mold, radon, or water intrusion unless requested
• Structural engineering analysis
• Underground drainage system evaluation

If basement areas are unsafe or inaccessible, this will be noted in the inspection report.
